Nothing teaches you more about yourself than heartbreak and betrayal.
I earned the nickname Tough Cookie because I have survived all five of life’s most traumatic and life-changing events. My blog stories reveal how I made mistakes but learned to deal with life’s most unexpected injustices. The mission of my website is to show others how to reconnect with their power, be street-smart, and be spiritually wise.
Who Am I?
Growing up near Chicago, my survival journey started when I was eight. That was the time the trauma began, and decades later, I was diagnosed with CPTSD (Chronic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
Writing always helped me heal my soul and sanity through decades of low self-esteem and limiting beliefs. I often searched for peace in books, music, sports, spiritual beliefs, and during the darkest times, professional counseling.
My blog includes best practices for self-awareness, physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health. Since we all want to belong and feel good about ourselves, I also write about relationships and problem-solving techniques.

Many of my stories are about the most outstanding teacher I ever had. Hayes was my only child who smiled through every loss muscular dystrophy took away. Because of his life condition, I passionately write about two other categories: parenting and advocacy.
I am also fascinated with the supernatural and messages from the great beyond, and I share these experiences.
Each story includes Tough Cookie Tips to mentor and help you develop new skills because only you can change what is missing in your daily life. Also included are excellent resources.
What Do I Stand For?

Why Should You Keep Reading?
So, I’m curious about your life. Which stage are you living in now?
The Egg (still can’t get past your childhood and adult trauma, and things aren’t going great).
The Ego (decisions made as an adult continue to carry on the dysfunctional behavior of the family you grew up in, and life is lonely and not what you planned).
The Enlightenment (all the drama, pain, and heartbreak has taught you the power of a no-fear, fun, and peaceful life) by taking action and making healthy choices. If this is where you are, congratulations on finding your flame!
Here are my questions: If a movie was made about your life today, what category would it be? How would you rate it?
What’s Your Movie Script?

If you are not happy with the review and end of your movie, I invite you to use my tested, joyful survival strategies. You will heal, believe in your self-worth again, live with passion and purpose, and have fun victories to celebrate.
Do you think it is possible to make healthier decisions, change from fearful to fierce, overwhelmed to confident, drama to calm, pooty to powerful? I want to share how I learned to make those changes, be grateful, and stay hopeful no matter how high the mountain.
Let’s continue to improve our “movie ratings” and learn from one another.
